Through the eyes of children
‘Polar bear and seal are suffering from global warming and sea pollution. Birds are loosing their homes due to deforestation. Cars and airplanes are causing air pollution’
‘The drawing is called “COVID”. The human eye does not see viruses and bacteria, but science can make them visible. The character in the picture looks past the coronavirus. The artwork is meant to express the need to take care and be oblivious to the dangers of COVID19.’
‘My drawing is about allergies and how allergies can affect people's lives. At the centre, there is a baby who is suffering from an allergic reaction. All around the baby are what one can be allergic to, including peanuts, pollen, house dust mite, cow's milk, drugs, egg and wasp venom.’
‘Once upon a time there was a beautiful life in our world, everyone was happy. But over time, the number of cars increased, buildings increased, environmental pollution increased. Due to climate change, some animals have become homeless, floods, droughts have increased. Now the animals are sad, we are sad, the world is sad…’
In this painting, I tried to picture consequences of abruptly changing weather conditions due to global warming and other factors and reasons of climate crisis from children's perspective, in a more vivacious and colourful way. At the time I joined the contest, I learned that I have asthma and I was hospitilazed. In the hospital my doctor saw my drawings and informed me about this contest. By this means while drawing I got inspired from the hardships I have faced myself because of climate crisis.
The world is sinking. Like a polar bear that loses its home and drowns in its own ocean. The world is on fire. Like terrible flames chasing koalas from the trees. The world now stinks because we have withered the flowers, despite all the perfume we wear to smell good. The world is no longer the world, because we have changed it.
My picture shows that if there is no action, the climate crisis will cause deaths in the near future. I am worried that the drought, lack of clean water and air pollution may badly affect our planet.
I ask myself how the future world should be?
Imagine a world scene with:
-
Green nature,
-
Enough rain,
-
Clean air,
-
Happy children with equal rights,
-
Happy animals living without the threat of plastics and other man-made hazards.
I dreamed a green future fulfilled with freedom.
